Ask a question and wait for the reply
Updated Oct 19, 2026
A wait step pauses the flow until the person answers, so one flow can hold a short conversation.
How it works
Add a wait step after a message. The flow pauses until the person replies, then carries on with what they said.
Two kinds of wait
- Choices: the person picks from options you give them. If they reply with something else, the wait ends and the message is routed as usual, so a different question still gets an answer.
- Free text: any reply is accepted and passed on.
How long it waits
The default is 24 hours and the longest is 7 days. If no reply arrives in time, the flow follows its timeout branch.
What ends a wait early
- The person opts out.
- You take over the conversation.
- You turn the flow off. Turning it off cancels everything it was waiting for.
One run, not two
A wait and the reply that ends it are one execution. The flow picks up where it stopped, and you are not charged twice.
